This extraordinary Statement Moss Agate Druzy Tower began as a piece of rough material personally selected for Crystal Asylum, before being custom cut to reveal the remarkable formations hidden within.
Standing an impressive 24.5cm tall and weighing 1.602kg, this is a substantial collector specimen, chosen not simply for its size, but for the extraordinary combination of natural moss inclusions, translucent chalcedony and exposed quartz crystallisation.
Deep emerald and forest-green formations appear suspended within the stone, resembling ancient woodland, miniature landscapes and delicate botanical silhouettes.
These intricate patterns contrast beautifully with the softer, milky-white chalcedony, creating an almost otherworldly scene that changes as the tower is viewed from different angles.
But the most remarkable feature lies at its centre.
A Crystal Garden Within
Running dramatically through the tower is an enormous open druzy cavity, revealing a textured interior covered in countless tiny sparkling crystals.
Unlike the smooth polished exterior, the exposed formation retains its natural crystalline character, creating a striking contrast between refined stone and untouched mineral growth.
Within the cavity, delicate flower-like crystal formations add another layer of interest.
These unusual growth patterns resemble miniature blossoms emerging from the druzy, creating a natural arrangement that feels almost botanical in its complexity.

Rather than selecting an already finished carving, the rough material was personally chosen for Crystal Asylum and custom crafted to showcase its most remarkable natural features.
The cutting and polishing were planned to emphasise both the deep green moss-like inclusions and the dramatic exposed druzy cavity.
This considered approach allows the finished tower to retain the character of the original stone while presenting its natural formations in a way that can be fully appreciated.
It is a piece created around the material, rather than simply cutting the material into a standard shape.

The Character of Moss Agate
Moss Agate is a variety of chalcedony, a microcrystalline form of quartz, recognised for its distinctive green, moss-like inclusions.
Despite its name, the patterns do not contain actual moss or preserved plants.
Instead, they are created by naturally occurring mineral inclusions, often associated with iron- or manganese-bearing minerals, which form intricate branching and landscape-like structures within the chalcedony.
In this particular tower, the green formations are complemented by milky-white areas and an extensive exposed druzy cavity, creating a remarkable combination of colour, texture and natural mineral growth.

Display & Care
Due to its substantial weight, display this tower on a stable, level surface capable of supporting the specimen securely.
Position away from shelf edges and areas where it may be accidentally knocked over.
Clean the polished exterior gently with a soft, dry cloth. The exposed druzy contains delicate crystalline formations and should not be scrubbed or subjected to abrasive cleaning products.
A very soft brush may be used carefully to remove loose dust from accessible areas of the druzy cavity.
Natural inclusions, fractures, pits, growth features and variations in surface texture are part of the specimen's individual character.
