The Story & Details
Deep violet amethyst, intricate natural formations and an unexpected golden glow beneath ultraviolet light.
At first glance, this beautiful Amethyst with Fluorite Sphere is a captivating study in purple, smoky lilac and warm earthy tones. But introduce ultraviolet light, and an entirely different side of its character is revealed.
Weighing approximately 379g, this polished sphere features richly coloured purple crystalline patterns, delicate pale mineral boundaries and an extraordinary network of natural formations that appear almost honeycomb-like beneath its surface.
One side displays striking violet and lavender tones, with darker purple sections surrounded by fine, pale outlines. Turn the sphere and warmer smoky mauve, beige and champagne shades emerge, creating a beautiful contrast between its two faces.
Under UV illumination, areas of the sphere reveal a golden-yellow fluorescent reaction, transforming its appearance and highlighting details that are far less apparent in ordinary light.
A fascinating piece for collectors who appreciate unusual mineral combinations, optical surprises and crystals that reveal something new with every turn.
The Geology: Amethyst & Fluorite
Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz, a mineral composed of silicon dioxide. Its characteristic violet colour is associated with trace iron and natural irradiation processes within the crystal structure.
Fluorite is a calcium fluoride mineral recognised for its remarkable variety of colours and, in certain specimens, its ability to fluoresce under ultraviolet light.
Fluorescence occurs when a mineral absorbs ultraviolet energy and re-emits some of that energy as visible light.
This sphere has been supplied as an Amethyst with Fluorite combination, with a yellow UV reaction attributed to the fluorite-bearing areas.
The exact mineral composition of the fluorescent regions has not been independently tested, but the visible UV response adds an especially interesting dimension to the specimen.
A Sphere of Two Contrasting Faces
What makes this particular sphere so captivating is the difference between its two sides.
One face is dominated by beautiful purple crystalline formations, with deep violet areas surrounded by pale, almost geometric mineral boundaries.
These patterns create a wonderfully complex appearance, resembling an intricate network of naturally formed crystalline windows.
The opposite side introduces softer, earthier colours. Smoky mauve, warm beige and subtle golden tones sit beneath a polished surface, intersected by a sweeping pale band.
When illuminated with UV light, the warmer areas reveal an unexpected yellow fluorescence, bringing an entirely new character to the sphere.
Beautiful in daylight. Unexpected beneath UV. Completely individual.
The Witch's Touch
In contemporary crystal spirituality, Amethyst is traditionally associated with intuition, spiritual awareness, calm and protection.
It is frequently used in meditation spaces, beside tarot and oracle decks, or as a symbolic companion during moments of reflection.
Fluorite is commonly associated with mental clarity, focus, discernment and the organisation of scattered thoughts.
Together, their traditional meanings create a symbolic pairing of intuition and understanding, encouraging the balance between spiritual exploration and clear thinking.
The sphere itself is a powerful symbol of wholeness, continuity and the cyclical nature of existence.
Its unusual fluorescent qualities also make it a beautiful reminder that not everything reveals itself immediately. Sometimes a different light is all it takes to discover what has been there all along.
Traditional Crystal Associations
- Intuition: Traditionally associated with Amethyst and inner awareness.
- Focus & Clarity: Commonly associated with Fluorite and clear thinking.
- Peace & Calm: Symbolising stillness, reflection and emotional balance.
- Spiritual Growth: Associated with contemplation and personal discovery.
- Transformation: A symbolic connection inspired by the sphere's changing appearance beneath UV light.
These associations reflect traditional and contemporary spiritual beliefs rather than scientifically established therapeutic effects.
The Keeper's Selection
I love crystals that have more than one side to their personality, and this sphere certainly does.
One side is full of these beautiful, almost honeycomb-like purple formations, while the other has softer, earthier tones running through it. You could turn her around and almost believe you were looking at two completely different stones.
But it's the UV reaction that makes her really interesting.
Under ordinary light, she's a beautiful mixture of amethyst purples and warm natural patterns. Then the UV comes out and suddenly there's this unexpected golden-yellow glow.
It's exactly the kind of little surprise I love finding in a crystal.
She doesn't reveal everything at first glance, and that's precisely what makes her special.

Crystal Care
Display on a secure sphere stand away from edges or unstable surfaces.
Clean gently using a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals and sudden temperature changes.
Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight may affect the colour of Amethyst over time, so a position away from direct sunlight is recommended.
UV fluorescence can vary according to the wavelength and strength of the ultraviolet light source. The fluorescent effect will not appear the same under ordinary daylight.
Please Note
- You will receive the exact sphere photographed.
- Natural mineral patterns, internal fractures, inclusions and colour variations are part of the specimen's individual character.
- The mineral identification and fluorescent source have not been independently laboratory verified.
- UV reaction may vary depending on the light source and viewing conditions.
- Weight is approximate.
- Display stand is not confirmed as included.
- Metaphysical information is provided for spiritual and cultural interest only.
Some crystals are beautiful in the light. Others are waiting for you to discover what happens in the dark.
