The Story & Details
This is exactly the sort of agate that deserves to be looked at properly.
Cut and polished to expose its interior, this Brazilian agate specimen moves through layer after layer of soft grey, cream and warm neutral banding before opening into naturally formed druzy-lined cavities. Across the centre, rounded formations are coated in tiny quartz crystals, giving the piece a completely different character as the light moves across it.
The contrast is what makes this one particularly striking: intricate agate banding around the edges, crystalline texture through the centre and small areas of the natural outer surface still visible. Mounted on a black metal stand, it becomes as much an object for display as a mineral specimen.
About Brazilian Agate
Agate is a variety of chalcedony, a microcrystalline form of quartz, recognised for the layers and patterns created as silica-rich material is deposited over time. Brazil is one of the world's best-known sources of agate, producing specimens with an enormous range of colours, banding and internal formations.
The open cavities in this piece have allowed small quartz crystals to develop across their surfaces, creating the sparkling druzy texture visible through the centre.
Intention
Within crystal and spiritual practice, agate is traditionally associated with grounding, balance and stability. Quartz is often associated with clarity and amplification. These are traditional metaphysical associations rather than scientifically established properties.
