The Story & Details
Deep violet crystals. Beautifully formed points. A hidden world within stone.
Some Amethyst specimens are all about delicate sparkle. Others draw you in with the size, depth and structure of their crystals.
This beautiful Brazilian Amethyst Geode Tower belongs firmly in the second category.
Weighing approximately 412g, this striking specimen features a deep, open crystal cavity filled with beautifully developed purple Amethyst points, framed by natural Agate banding and contrasting green Jasper.
Unlike finer druzy formations, the Amethyst crystals within this tower are noticeably larger, with individual points and defined faces creating an impressive three-dimensional crystalline landscape.
The colour ranges from softer lavender near the upper edges to rich, saturated violet within the deeper areas of the cavity.
Above the crystals, beautiful blue-green and grey Agate bands follow the pointed shape of the tower, creating a natural frame around the opening.
The polished exterior contrasts beautifully with the raw crystal formation inside.
Polished stone on the outside. Untamed crystal beauty within.
Brazilian Amethyst: A Natural Crystal Formation
Amethyst is the purple variety of Quartz, composed of silicon dioxide (SiO2).
Its distinctive colour develops through trace iron within the crystal structure and natural geological irradiation.
Brazil is internationally recognised for producing beautiful Amethyst geodes and crystal specimens, particularly those formed within ancient volcanic rock.
These formations develop when silica-rich fluids enter cavities within rock and gradually deposit layers of Quartz and other silica minerals.
Over geological time, individual Amethyst crystals grow inward from the cavity walls, creating the sparkling interiors characteristic of natural geodes.
This specimen preserves a particularly attractive section of that crystalline growth.
The exposed cavity is filled with closely arranged Amethyst points, many displaying clearly defined crystal faces and terminations.
Some crystals project outward towards the opening, while others sit deeper within the formation, creating natural shadows and beautiful variations in colour.
The upper portion contains lighter violet crystals, while the central and lower areas display richer purple tones.
As the viewing angle changes, individual crystal faces catch the light and reveal different details within the formation.
Agate: Natural Banding Around the Crystal
One of the most distinctive features of this tower is the beautiful banded stone surrounding its Amethyst cavity.
Agate is a variety of Chalcedony, a microcrystalline form of Quartz that often develops in successive layers within geological cavities.
Variations in mineral content and growth conditions create its characteristic bands and natural colour transitions.
At the pointed top of this specimen, the Agate displays beautiful blue-green, grey and cream tones.
These layers follow the outline of the tower, forming a natural arch above the exposed Amethyst crystals.
The polished surface reveals the subtle variations within each band, while the boundary between Agate and Amethyst highlights the different stages of mineral formation.
This contrast between smooth, patterned stone and sharply defined crystal points is one of the most captivating aspects of the specimen.
Green Jasper: An Earthy Contrast
The reverse of this tower features green Jasper, providing a beautiful contrast to the violet Amethyst on the front.
Jasper is an opaque, impurity-rich variety of silica, often displaying intricate natural patterns and earthy colours.
Its appearance varies considerably depending on the minerals present during formation.
In this specimen, the green Jasper adds depth and character to the polished exterior.
Rather than appearing as a simple purple crystal tower, the piece combines several contrasting natural textures and colours.
The result is a specimen that reveals different aspects of its geological structure depending on how it is displayed.
A Tower with Beautifully Developed Crystal Points
What makes this Amethyst tower particularly appealing is the size and definition of its exposed crystals.
The cavity contains numerous substantial Amethyst points, creating a richly textured interior rather than a uniformly fine druzy surface.
The crystals vary naturally in size, shape and orientation, giving the formation an organic, irregular appearance.
Its polished pointed top and sides provide a strong architectural shape, while the exposed crystal cavity preserves the raw character of the mineral.
At 412g, this freestanding tower makes a beautiful addition to a crystal cabinet, mineral collection, gothic-inspired interior or personal altar.
It is particularly suited to collectors who appreciate natural crystal growth, contrasting mineral formations and specimens with depth and character.
Traditional Associations
Within contemporary crystal and spiritual traditions, Amethyst is commonly associated with:
- Intuition & Psychic Work: Symbolically connected with inner wisdom, spiritual awareness and intuitive exploration.
- Spiritual Growth: Representing personal development, reflection and a deeper understanding of oneself.
- Protection & Warding: Traditionally associated with energetic boundaries and spiritual protection.
- Peace & Calm: Symbolising tranquillity, emotional balance and stillness.
- Clarity: Encouraging thoughtful reflection and clear intentions.
- Meditation: Frequently incorporated into spiritual practices focused on contemplation and awareness.
Agate and Jasper are traditionally associated with:
- Grounding: Symbolising stability and connection with the natural world.
- Strength: Representing resilience, patience and perseverance.
- Balance: Encouraging harmony between spiritual awareness and everyday life.
- Protection: Traditionally associated with stability and maintaining personal boundaries.
Together, these minerals symbolise grounded intuition, spiritual protection and the balance between inner wisdom and earthly stability.
These associations are based on spiritual beliefs and cultural traditions rather than scientifically established therapeutic effects.

Display & Care
Amethyst measures approximately 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, although individual crystal points can still chip or fracture if knocked.
Handle the tower carefully, supporting the solid polished body rather than the exposed crystals.
Display on a stable, level surface away from areas where it may be accidentally knocked.
Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can cause some Amethyst specimens to fade over time.
Dust gently using a soft, dry brush. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaning products and prolonged immersion in water.
The natural crystal cavity should be treated as a delicate feature.
