The Story & Details
From one angle, a beautifully quiet white agate sphere. Turn it slightly and the whole thing opens up.
This substantial Moroccan agate sphere weighs 1.109 kg and has been polished around a naturally open geode cavity, revealing layers of white and translucent agate surrounding a crystalline interior. The contrast between the smooth outer surface and the raw crystal formation inside is exactly what makes this piece.
Rather than polishing away everything that made the stone interesting in the first place, the open cavity has been left exposed, giving you both sides of the material in one piece: softly banded agate on the outside and a pocket of natural crystal growth within.
Displayed here on an ornate dark stand, it has enough presence to work as a standalone piece in a cabinet, on a shelf or amongst a larger mineral collection.
About Moroccan Agate
Agate is a variety of chalcedony, a microcrystalline form of quartz, formed as silica-rich material is deposited in successive layers. Those layers can create the banding, translucency and subtle shifts in colour associated with agate.
Where an internal cavity remains open during formation, crystals can develop across its surface rather than filling the space completely. In this sphere, that process has left a naturally crystalline geode-like opening at the centre of the polished stone.
Intention
Within crystal and spiritual practice, agate is traditionally associated with grounding, balance and stability. Quartz is commonly associated with clarity and cleansing.
These are traditional metaphysical associations rather than scientifically established properties.
