The Story & Details
Soft green stone. Dark needles. A beautiful contrast created by nature.
Some crystals catch your attention with brilliant colour. Others draw you in with the intricate details suspended beneath their surface.
This unusual Prehnite Diamond Freeform is a beautiful example of the latter.
Weighing approximately 155.5g, this individually selected specimen combines the gentle, translucent colouring of natural Prehnite with striking dark needle-like mineral inclusions.
Soft shades of pale green, yellow-green and muted olive flow through the polished stone, creating an almost luminous appearance as light passes through its surface.
Suspended throughout are numerous fine, dark mineral formations. Some appear as delicate individual needles, while others form small clusters and intersecting lines, creating a fascinating natural pattern within the crystal.
The contrast is remarkable.
The Prehnite appears soft, gentle and almost ethereal, while the dark inclusions introduce definition, structure and an unexpected sense of depth.
And rather than being carved into a conventional tower, this specimen has been shaped into an unusual self-standing diamond-inspired freeform, with a sharply tapered point, angular sides and a broader lower section.
It's a beautifully distinctive little collector's piece.
A Landscape of Natural Inclusions
The defining feature of this specimen is the abundance of dark needle-like inclusions visible throughout the Prehnite.
Against the pale green background, these slender formations appear almost like tiny branches, suspended fragments or fine strokes of ink.
Some run diagonally through the stone, while others intersect or gather into darker clusters.
The translucency of the Prehnite allows many of these internal structures to remain visible, creating layers of detail that reward closer inspection.
Natural internal veils and mineral boundaries add further character, giving the stone a beautiful sense of depth.
Prehnite commonly occurs alongside minerals such as Epidote, which can form dark green to nearly black inclusions. However, the precise identity of the inclusions in this particular specimen has not been independently confirmed.
An Unusual Diamond Silhouette
What makes this piece particularly interesting is its sculptural shape.
Rather than the familiar six-sided tower, the freeform rises into a long, sharply tapered point, with angular polished faces creating a distinctive geometric silhouette.
The wider lower section gives the piece a self-standing form, allowing it to be displayed without a separate stand.
Its clean lines contrast beautifully with the irregular natural inclusions within the stone.
Structured on the outside. Wonderfully unpredictable within.
At 155.5g, it's a lovely size for a mineral display, cabinet of curiosities, desk or personal collection.
The Character of Prehnite
Prehnite is a calcium aluminium silicate mineral, often recognised for its gentle green colouring and translucent appearance.
Its colours can range from pale yellow-green to deeper shades of green, sometimes with cloudy internal structures or associated mineral inclusions.
It is frequently found in association with other minerals, creating specimens with particularly interesting contrasts in colour and texture.
This piece is especially attractive for the combination of its pale, softly glowing body colour and numerous dark needle-like formations.
Traditional Associations
Within contemporary crystal traditions, Prehnite is often symbolically associated with:
- Intuition & Psychic Work: Inner awareness and trusting personal insight.
- Peace & Calm: Stillness, reflection and creating a peaceful atmosphere.
- Banishing & Releasing: Letting go of what no longer serves you.
- Spiritual Growth: Personal development and reflection.
- Grounding: Stability and connection to the present moment, particularly through the symbolism of the dark mineral inclusions.
These are traditional spiritual associations rather than scientifically established effects.

Display & Care
Display on a stable, level surface where light can pass through the stone and illuminate its natural inclusions.
Clean gently using a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaning products, harsh chemicals and prolonged soaking.
Prehnite should be protected from knocks and impacts that may chip or damage the polished edges.
Natural inclusions, internal fractures, mineral boundaries and surface variations form part of the specimen's individual character.
Please note: Colour, translucency and the visibility of internal inclusions may vary depending on lighting and viewing angle. Measurements and weight are approximate.
